StackIQ’s complete Hadoop solution for the Enterprise adds support for MapR, Cloudera, DataStax, and other Big Data distributions.

We wanted to make sure that our advanced cluster-management capabilities would be available to everyone, regardless of the distribution they choose

StackIQ, a leading provider of cluster management solutions for Hadoop, today announced an extension to its StackIQ Enterprise Data (SED) product line featuring support for Big Data software stacks in addition to Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP). Now, enterprise customers can choose from a selection of outstanding big data software offerings from several leading vendors, including MapR, Cloudera, and DataStax. StackIQ’s cluster-management software can now provision, deploy, and manage them all with ease.

The new Enterprise Data product joins the Hortonworks Edition, bringing StackIQ’s powerful, sophisticated cluster-management capabilities for the enterprise data center to a broader range of customers.

“We realize people have choices when it comes to the Hadoop and NoSQL software they run in their data center," said Tim McIntire of StackIQ. “We wanted to make sure that our advanced cluster-management capabilities would be available to everyone, regardless of the distribution they choose.”

This latest release of SED offers many features enterprise customers will benefit from, including:

  • Support for popular Hadoop and NoSQL distributions
  • Complete lifecycle management of the entire Big Data cluster — hardware, operating system, network, and Big Data software
  • Flexible, automated system configuration for all commodity hardware
  • Script-free configuration and deployment

“At Think Big, we help customers get value from Big Data by assembling applications that integrate Hadoop and NoSQL databases. StackIQ brings a much-needed capability to enable these applications, providing vendor-independent cluster management that works with the leading Hadoop distributions, NoSQL databases, hardware, and hosting platforms,” said Ron Bodkin, founder and CEO of Think Big Analytics.
