The new Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) Private Cloud certification is Microsoft’s answer to the new focus on cloud computing in the information technology business. The certification demands that the holder have an expertise in both traditional and cloud computing technology. To prepare for the certification exam in private cloud, IT professionals should have an in depth knowledge of Windows Server and System Center 2012. The System Center 2012 offers a centralized way to control IT resources in use in both private and public cloud configurations. The use of private clouds can help organizations better manage their IT resources and it can help cut costs. The MCSE Private Cloud certification prepares IT professionals to be able to handle both private and public cloud configurations and hybrid configurations.

Expertise in Windows Server 2008 and System Center 2012 provides individuals with the needed skills to be able to build and manage private cloud solutions for companies including dealing with system security vulnerabilities. Individuals with the skill set to implement private cloud infrastructures will be able to help fill the current information technology skills gap in organizations on a worldwide basis. IT professionals with a background in Windows Server 2008 or 2012 can take advantage of the new training in private cloud systems. Individuals who also may be interested in the Private Cloud coursework could include datacenter administrators, and business owners of applications or services.

What the course covers:
The new coursework in Private Cloud configuration covers coming up with a plan for a private cloud system, configuring and deploying the private cloud infrastructure, extending and maintaining the private cloud infrastructure, configuring delivery of virtual applications, deploying first business unit private cloud, configuring a private cloud catalog, maintaining security for the private cloud infrastructure and automating and standardizing the private cloud. A focus is also placed on understanding how System Center 2012 is used to operate the private cloud infrastructure including using the Operations Manager to monitor performance and application availability. In addition, students will learn to use the Service Manager within System Center 2012 to conduct event monitoring, and to identify and route incidents or other problems to the Service Manager. The implementation of IT Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) in a private cloud will also be covered.

Available coursework in private cloud
NetCom Learning is currently offering two classes in Private Cloud Infrastructure including Monitoring and Operating a Private Cloud with System Center 2012 and Configuring and Deploying a Private Cloud with System Center 2012. The courses are available individually in traditional classroom settings in New York or in an intensive boot camp in Las Vegas, Nevada or Arlington, Virginia. The coursework is also available online. If taking the course remotely, students must have dual SVGA monitors that are 17” or larger supporting 1440X900 minimum resolutions.

Prerequisites to MCSE Private Cloud Certifications
Those interested in taking the Private Cloud Training Package in preparation for the MCSE Private Cloud certification exam need to have taken earned the MCSA: Windows Server 2008 or the MCSA: Windows Server 2012 certification. In order to earn the MCSE Private Cloud certification an individual must pass five different exams:

  • 70-410: Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012
  • 70-411: Administering Windows Server 2012
  • 70-412: Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 Services
  • 70-246: Monitoring and Operating a Private Cloud with System Center 2012
  • 70-247: Configuring and Deploying a Private Cloud with System Center 2012

If an IT professional already holds the Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP): Enterprise Administrator or MCITP: Server Administrator and the MCSA Windows Server 2008 certification, then they are only required to take the specific private cloud certification exams (70-246 and 70-427).

The Private Cloud certification requires candidates to show continued ability to perform in this technology area by completing a recertification exam every three years.
