“Not enough mobile testing is done” Alan Trefzger
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2013
From November 2012 to February 2013 XBOSoft conducted a survey on the state of mobile testing with the objective to collect data on how different QA organizations conduct mobile testing, and to analyze and present this data so development and testing organizations can compare their own mobile QA efforts with industry standards and best practices.
In concord with the growing importance of mobile software development two thirds of respondents expect their mobile development team to be larger in 2013 than in 2012. Alan Trefzger, senior quality consultant, comments “while development budgets are clearly shifting towards mobile, QA, and testing budgets do not keep pace. With the peculiarities of mobile such as performance and security taken into account relatively more resources should be devoted to assure the quality of mobile applications and websites. But that is not what I found in this survey.”
“With more organizations moving towards supporting mobile software their testing will evolve as well.” said Phil Lew, CEO of XBOSoft. “While many basic principles of software QA and testing apply to mobile as well there are some specific differences such as the proliferation of devices and network related performance issues that have to be taken into account with mobile testing. “
Survey results indicated this as well with close to half of the QA people stating that they use a different development and QA process for mobile; interestingly none of the developers who responded to the survey stated that their development or QA team uses a different process for mobile.
