Rapid Recovery Solution issues a statement in reaction to an article posted by KTNV describing the experience of a Nevada resident after receiving a questionable collections notice.

On February 24, Rapid Recovery Solution issues a response to an article posted by KTNV discussing the experience of Las Vegas Valley resident Josh Brizzi upon receiving a suspicious collections notice.

The KTNV article states that Brizzi received an unexpected notice from a collection agency claiming that he owed a debt of nearly eight thousand dollars. "I almost flipped out of this chair," said Brizzi, who reviewed his credit reports and determined that his credit was not in fact being neglected. With the credit report and collections notice expressing conflicting messages, Brizzi reportedly made contact with the collections agency.

Brizzi described the collections representative as being resistant to the exchange of information, which made him wary and hesitant to divulge any of his own information. The article mentions that Brizzi’s consternation also stemmed from tracking his balances and noticing that no sum came even remotely close to the amount to which the collection agency claimed he was indebted. “Josh's credit report shows he's had four different accounts with this credit company. But he wanted to know how he could owe so much when the highest balance he ever had on any of the cards was only $173.”

The collections agency was also questioned by KTNV with regard to Brizzi’s case but the agency refused to respond in any detail. The article quotes a spokesperson from the Better Business Bureau, who said that in light of the company's questionable behavior, Brizzi did the right thing by withholding his information, adding that “Any company that lacks transparency, that's trying to collect on a debt, I would also be wary of.”

John Monderine, CEO of the New York-based debt collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution, shares his thoughts concerning suspicious notifications of debt, agreeing that transparency is crucial. “Legitimate commercial collection agencies do not typically refuse to exchange information when it pertains to a sincere effort at collections. Josh Brizzi’s experience seems to suggest the agency in question was using questionable practices. If an agency is attempting to collect, it is important that the debt is recognized by the debtor. Establishing a basis for communication is important in order to collect on a legitimate debt, because it’s the best way to resolve an issue without unnecessary complications.”
