The University of Chicago Medicine, a premier leader in healthcare, academic medicine and research, has adopted the groundbreaking TrueVision® 3D Surgical Visualization System for ophthalmology. Seenu Hariprasad, M.D., Michael Saidel, M.D., and Susan Ksiazek, M.D., are the first ophthalmologists at the academic medical center to use the system. The University of Chicago is the first teaching program in Illinois to adopt TrueVision.

Dr. Hariprasad, who serves as Associate Professor and Chief of Vitreoretinal Service, described the TrueVision® 3D Surgical Visualization System as a breakthrough technology in eye surgery.

Dr. Ksiazek will also use the 3D high-def system for live surgical teaching and recorded video case instruction.

The TrueVision® 3D Surgical Visualization System is a real-time, stereoscopic, high-definition visualization system that attaches to microscopes to display the surgical field of view on 3D flat panel displays in the operating room. The advanced technology is used for microsurgery and to stream live video of the surgical field, making it an unparalleled teaching tool. Surgeons, residents, and the operating room staff can view what traditionally only one or two surgeons could observe through the microscope.
