Sewfie has created a beautifully presented and foolproof 'Learn to Crochet' kit, and £1 from every kit bought goes to charity.

“I have gone from never crocheting to being confident in less than 24 hours. I'm also left handed but have managed to teach myself to crochet with my right hand thanks to your lovely kit and the YouTube tutorials. Thanks Sewfie!” - Emily Nafzger

Since its launch 3 months ago, Sewfie’s Learn to Crochet kit has helped 130 people how to crochet. The kit not only includes a booklet, a crochet hook, and a ball of fair trade, organic yarn, it also comes with a support group on Facebook, and accompanying YouTube tutorial videos. Available for £11.50 at it is the only one of its kind on the market.

The booklet, written and illustrated by Sofie Kay, guides the reader through the different types of crochet stitches and includes two simple patterns: one for a basic granny square and one for a gorgeous scarf. The YouTube videos were created despite Sofie's innate camera-shyness and, along with the Facebook group, are an integral and unique part of the kit.

A Charitable Hook
Noticing the popularity of the kit, Sofie Kay decided to start donating £1 from every kit bought to Love146, a charity which helps child trafficking victims. Sewfie has now raised over £100 for this charity, a perfect example of how doing something small can affect something huge.

Sofie Kay says, “Crochet has a certain nostalgia around it. We remember our grandmothers teaching us when we were small, but we inevitably forget how it’s done as life takes over. Learning how to crochet again takes us back to a simpler time and allows us to create our own gifts and special heirlooms for our friends and families.“

About Sewfie:
Sofie Kay taught herself to crochet in 2011 and fell deeply in love with the craft. She started to dream about running a craft business and, after leaving university in December 2012, Sewfie was founded. At the start, Sewfie sold crocheted, handmade items, but after noticing how often her customers commented on how they wished they could also crochet, Sofie decided to take her small business in the direction of selling kits and patterns that use only eco-friendly materials.
