There are approximately 8, 800 species of birds and man's fascination with them dates back thousands of years. Ancient myths suggest that early man viewed birds as colorful mystical creatures capable of flight and the gift of song. Self-published author Patsy Levang, pens a poignant semi-autobiography about a woman named Alma who is a passionate bird enthusiast. In The Bird Book, Levang showed Alma’s thoughts, emotions and feelings for these exquisite feathered creatures.
This book shows readers different kinds of birds and how Alma related each of the bird’s characteristics to her own. When she was still alive, she was known to be shy, quiet and always loved to stay in her room. She was an artistic introvert and had a strong fascination with birds. According to her personal notes in this inspiring read, the birds were like her friends and she talked to them often through her writings. Also found in the book are majestic raw illustrations that allow readers’ imagination to run wild as they leaf through this beautiful memoir dedicated to Levang’s dear friend, Alma.
Through this book, Levang tells how Alma’s life should be remembered. She hopes that others will learn from her words because she lived with so little of the world’s material allurement. Readers will be taken on a captivating and memorable journey as they visit Alma’s world along with her favorite birds and own personal collection of prose in The Bird Book.
