According to The Guardian report by Amelia Hill current legislation only offers protection from harassment or bullying by their employer and not from co-workers. However new proposed amendment to the enterprise and regulatory reform bill will mean that whistleblowers will have protection from victimisation from their co-workers as well as the employer.

The report goes on to say that the employee would be in a better position with the full force of a tribunal behind them if they suffer any detriment from co-workers. Employees are still not keen to blow the whistle because of how other whistleblowers have been dealt with in the past where in some cases the employee has been dismissed and then branded as unemployable and are financially destroyed.
