North London entrepreneur Hibi Racs has created a new brand of home made flapjacks which have made their first appearance at independent supermarket in Central London.

The versatility of this product is endless, which I feel will appeal to a variety of markets and people with different preferences in taste, texture and sweetness.

The Flapjack Girls is a new brand of flapjacks which have recently hit the market, emerging with a range of five varieties of flapjacks. What sets these tasty morsels apart from traditional flapjacks is that they offer a healthier alternative to baked flapjacks which are commonly bland, stodgy and butter rich. These little oatcakes are rich in texture, from the crunchiness of the oats, the chewiness of the ingredients, and the sweet flavour from the honey and a home-made lemon, ginger and marsala syrup. Simplicity is the key. Everything you see has been hand made from scratch. There are currently five types of flapjacks available: Spicy Chocolate; Tropical Escape; Apple Explosion; Hit the Spot Apricot; Prune Infusion. The Flapjack Girls is the brainchild of its founder, Hibi Racs of north London. After experimenting with flapjack recipes since the summer of 2012, they developed this range until they were confident enough to unleash this new brand upon the general public. Prior to approaching retailers, they did their own informal research by unveiling products at a vintage fair in South London in November 2012, where 50 people had the opportunity to sample their new range. After receiving a very positive response and implementing any feedback into action, the company approached retailers such as The Peoples Supermarket (http://www.thepeoplessupermarket.org) in Holborn, who took a keen interest and are now stocking their products. The business is less than 4 months old and is already cultivating a relationship with this independent retailer.

The entrepreneur added, “The versatility of this product is endless, which I feel will appeal to a variety of markets and people with different preferences in taste, texture and sweetness. You can go as healthy as you want with these. Firstly, they are not baked but very lightly steamed, in order to retain their nutritional value. They are also dairy free which is good news for those who are lactose intolerant. The honey can be replaced with agave syrup to make them suitable for vegans, and we can also use gluten free oats if required. This is such an exciting period and we are looking forward to developing our range with a health-conscious attitude in mind. There are lots of future development plans in the pipeline. We feel extremely proud to be stocked at The Peoples Supermarket as they are a great independent retail outlet.”

More information can be found on their official website: http://www.theflapjackgirls.com where you can also connect with their social media platform and keep up-to-date with what’s happening. This new London based brand of flapjacks has plans for expansion within the area for the time being. Racs is pleased to be launching this brand into the greater London market, as Londoners are known to be particularly health conscious and savvy shoppers who know a good thing when they see it and want to be one of the first to jump on board. They can also be purchased from their online store (http://www.theflapjackgirls.com/shop.php). The Flapjack Girls are aspiring to grow in the future by trading with other cafes and retailers, catering for individuals, events, festivals, and anyone else who enjoys a tasty flapjack.
