Healthcare providers looking to reach diverse populations and connect with patients more effectively can sign up for a free webinar from SurroundHealth, an online learning community for healthcare extenders.

The health webinar, “How to Engage Patients from Multicultural Backgrounds,” is planned for Wednesday, March 6, at 1 p.m. EST. Topics include:

  •     Hear highlights of an extensive survey about how healthcare providers are meeting the needs of diverse patient populations
  •     Get practical tips from a panel of experts who’ve created programs to reach patients from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
  •     Come away with a better ability to offer the best possible care.

The healthcare webinar is planned in conjunction with HealthEd Academy, which sponsors SurroundHealth. Confirmed speakers include:

  •     Katherine Malbon, MD, assistant professor in Pediatrics in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center in New York City; founder of Text in the City
  •     Georgia Robins Sadler, BSN, MBA, PhD, associate director for community outreach at the Moores UCSD Cancer Center and professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine
  •     Zul Surani, community outreach and partnerships, Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles

The health webinar is targeted at healthcare extenders—non-MD, patient-focused health professionals, such as nurse practitioners, health educators, nutritionists, certified diabetes educators, and pharmacists.

“We’re so excited to be organizing this webinar. The panelists will share their rich experiences and knowledge about reaching diverse patient groups,” says HealthEd Academy’s Katie Margolis, PhD, who will moderate the panel.

Attendees can receive free CHES and RD continuing education credits. They will also get a discount on a related tool kit from HealthEd Academy.
