“Legacy System Blues” is a reminder to healthcare providers they must be prepared to handle the hidden costs and time associated with converting from legacy systems.

MediQuant Inc., the pioneer in interoperable “Active Archiving” data solutions for legacy healthcare data, will be showcasing DataArk, the leading solution for data migration issues, at this year’s Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference and Exhibition, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, March 3-7.

Tony Paparella, president and founder of MediQuant, has been a musician for most of his life. He saw this year’s HIMSS conference in New Orleans as an opportunity to pay tribute to his musical roots. He and his band, the DeCommissioners, decided to write and record a song based on the data migration issues many hospitals and other healthcare organizations face called “Legacy System Blues,” which was recorded and pressed on a vinyl 45.

“Legacy System Blues” is a reminder to healthcare providers they must be prepared to handle the hidden costs and time associated with converting from legacy systems.

MediQuant is managing legacy data beyond the traditional definition of clinical archives and financial archives to help healthcare providers get on the right track to retire their legacy applications and decommission mainframe and other systems. Clients can avoid running old applications to allow for legacy data access by using DataArk, the unique Active Archiving solution. DataArk has helped save clients up to 80% in legacy system costs by retaining easy end-user access to detail-level data while decommissioning retiring applications.

MediQuant has already provided healthcare-IT data management solutions for leading U.S. health systems, including: Catholic Health Partners, Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, Kettering Health Network, Oregon Health & Science University, University of Mississippi Medical Center, and West Virginia University Hospitals, among others.
