On February 26, Rapid Recovery Solution offers a statement in response to an article published by North Jersey describing how Elmwood Park is considering employing a collection services agency in order to collect money owed on delinquent traffic tickets.
According to the North Jersey article, Elmwood Park Mayor Richard Mola claimed that collecting on traffic tickets has been in the works for approximately a year. Seeking third party collection services is currently the method being explored in order to retrieve the money owed to the city.
In line with state-set guidelines and the submission of appropriate paperwork, Elmwood Park was stated to have approval to use an outside collections agency. The article mentions that the agency will conduct its own investigation for delinquent traffic tickets. The measure is reported to only apply to those who have suspensions or posses a warrant status for a year’s time.
Elmwood Park is the first community within Bergen County to use a collection agency for the purposes of collecting on traffic ticket debt, reports the article. According to a quote provided by Mayor Mola, the collections are expected to range between $300,000 and $400,000.
John Monderine, CEO of Rapid Recovery Solution, offers a statement with regard to using collection services for unpaid traffic tickets. “Collecting thousands on unpaid parking tickets is a considerable task. Given the amount of money owed, it’s probably safe to say that the people who lay claim to these unpaid traffic tickets are taking advantage of an administrative body that expected an honorable paying of one’s debt. Not being adequately staffed for collections on so large a scale warrants outside assistance.”
