Milestone Substantiates the Site’s User Engagement Momentum and Early Traction

Reaching the one million tap milestone is a testament to the strength of our engaged community and the opportunities ahead of us as we leverage our funding to integrate products and brands into our site.

Tapiture, the rapidly growing social discovery site, just reached the one million ‘tap’ milestone after seven months of strong growth and robust engagement levels. Tapiture user, Marcus Collins, was the millionth ‘tapper’ with a stylish, close up photo of a mixed Australian Sheppard puppy sporting a classic bow tie. Marcus, who lives and works in the heart of San Francisco’s tech industry, says he enjoys discovering and sharing “images of beautiful women, travel destinations, design and cool products.” Marcus adds, “I visit Tapiture with the mindset of finding cool things that match my interest and I am often compelled to buy some of those things.”

As a discovery platform that enables users to find and share content consistent with their interests, Tapiture’s community ‘tap’ their favorite images, GIFs, products and videos from anywhere on the web into collections using a simple browser extension. Users then connect with their social graph to share that content with friends and find other users with similar interests.

The milestone reflects the persistent and accelerated development of Tapiture’s user community who most recently recorded 8.6 million visits and 78 million page views by 4.1M unique visitors with engagement levels of close to seven minutes per visit during Q4 of 2012. On average, an item shared on Tapiture is currently viewed 179 times, is retapped into other user collections five times, receives four ‘likes’ and .3 comments.

“I love the rapid progress we’ve made and this is just the beginning,” said Tapiture CEO, John Ellis. “Reaching the one million tap milestone is a testament to the strength of our engaged community and the opportunities ahead of us as we leverage our funding to integrate products and brands into our site.”

Tapiture just announced an $825k funding round that will be used to accelerate the development of its e-commerce solution and further improve the site’s shopping experience. Beyond organic product recommendations by users, the site will also introduce ‘Tapiture Tastemakers,’ who will function as specialized buyers to contextually inject products throughout the site. Ultimately, revenue will be generated through ecommerce and affiliate fees.
