It’s extremely moving to see the race route lined with names and pictures of each fallen soldier with so many family members there to witness the tribute honoring their fallen loved ones.
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) February 27, 2013
The non-profit organization Fallen Heroes of Georgia is preparing for it's annual Run for the Fallen road race at Lake lanier islands March 16. The race is a Peachtree RoadRace sanctioned event scheduled for March 16, 2013 at the Lake Lanier Islands Resort, and is made possible by corporate sponsors like Georgia Personal Injury Attorneys, Montlick and Associates.
Participants will have an option of running or walking 10k, 5k, or 1k to honor the men and women of Georgia who have sacrificed their lives defending our country since the tragedy of 9/11.
According to Jacquie Palisi, Family Safety Advocate of Montlick and Associates, Fallen Heroes of Georgia was founded in 2011 by Steve Durling to provide a way of honoring and remembering our fallen heroes as the tenth anniversary of 9/11 approached. In discussing Montlick and Associates' support of the event, Palisi said, “It’s extremely moving to see the race route lined with names and pictures of each fallen soldier, with so many family members there to witness the tribute honoring their fallen loved ones.”
The non-profit event generates funds for scholarships, educational grants and other programs through a number of organizations established to honor the memory of active duty military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country during wartime:
- Evan Marshal Memorial
- Joshua Reeves Memorial Scholarship
- Michael Stokely Memorial Foundation, Inc.
- The Mathew Freeman Project
- The Noah Harris Fund
The organizers of the event invite individual runners and teams to join in this event to remember and commemorate the sacrifices of Georgia military personnel who have given their lives to protect our freedom and way of life. Those interested in participating in the Run for the Fallen can register for the event at http://fallenheroesofgeorgia.com. Those who preregister for the race will receive a shirt that lists the name and rank of each of Georgia’s fallen soldiers since 9/11. While participants may register at the event, availability of the shirts commemorating our fallen men and women from Georgia are only guaranteed to those who pre-register. Cash prizes also will be awarded to the winner in each race and gender category.
