Dealernews recently recognized the A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson Family of Dealerships in Columbus, Ohio as one of the top ten dealerships of 2012. Dealernews, the official voice of power sports retailers, held it’s annual Dealer Expo in conjunction with the Awards Ceremony. The Expo boasts over 700 vendors and is the largest powersports event in the world. Over 15 of the company’s associates and family joined dealer principal Bob Althoff, as he accepted a lifetime achievement award at the annual Dealernews Top 100 Awards Gala in Indianapolis, IN. America’s oldest Harley Dealer is a 15-time Top 100 Award winner of the 22-year history of Dealernews. Only four or five dealerships, of the 4,000 nationally, can lay claim to more wins
The Don J. Brown Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a representative of the power sports retail industry who has demonstrated a lifelong dedication to the business, the lifestyle, the community and the sport. Althoff received the Brown Award this year in recognition of his outstanding efforts to further the motorcycle business and the rider lifestyle – from fundraising programs benefiting charities throughout central Ohio to business lectures with students at Ohio State University. In Althoff’s speech, he exclaimed he was “grateful beyond words to receive this honor.” The award is extremely appropriate, as Althoff has made the mission statement of A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson, “To Grow and Serve Motorcycling.”
The company has also been the recipient of several Special Merit Category Awards. It has received what could be considered the highest accolade the industry bestows, the Dealernews Top 100 Special Merit Award for Community Service. America’s Oldest Harley Dealer won the award twice in the last four years due to the strong charitable impact it has made on the community. It has also won the title of National Best Facility for their NorthStar Campus. This past year the dealership took home awards for Best Integrated Media Campaign as well as Best Print Media Campaign. The Best Integrated Media Campaign and the Best Print Media Campaign generated thousands of impressions caught the attention of several editors around the country. The integrated media campaign used a variety of mediums in order to culminate into a cohesive “integrated” campaign. Popular mediums included radio, print, social media, in-store standees and grass roots level marketing.
America’s Oldest Harley Dealer celebrated its 100th birthday in 2012. Alfred D. Farrow, the founder and namesake behind A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson was among the pioneering men who helped established Harley-Davidson Motor Company. A.D. Farrow’s shop originated in Nelsonville, Ohio and eventually moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1924.
