CHICAGO, Feb. 27, 2013 -- Joe Popa, 45, is joining Plan B® [The Agency Alternative] as its first-ever Group Creative Director. Previously a creative leader within the DraftFCB and Rivet Networks, Popa now oversees creative and design across Plan B’s client portfolio for its offices in Chicago, San Francisco, and Wisconsin.

“Few agencies this size have Plan B’s range,” said Popa. “Plan B was founded by three creatives, so creativity percolates through the entire agency - how teams are built, working with clients, plans for expanding. The entire agency is an incubator for creative thinking. It transcends the creative department. It’s atypical in many ways, which elevates the creative. It’s also what brought me here.”

Popa will report directly to Ric Van Sickle, partner and chief operating officer of Plan B. “Joe was a standout because he has incredibly broad experience in designing ideas, and executing them across print, broadcast, experiential, digital, and in traditional strengths of ours like direct mail and CRM.” said Van Sickle. “Across his 20 years in advertising, Joe’s been a student of, and believes the creative process starts with understanding human behavior.
