Education technology companies SchoolTube and UClass are announcing their new partnership and the kickoff of a K12 education contest they are sponsoring together over the next month: The “Where We’re From” Project.
Their partnership will feature co-sponsored projects, a UClass channel on SchoolTube and the ability for teachers and students to embed SchoolTube videos on UClass.
The “Where We’re From” Project, launched this week, encourages students to make videos about their community, upload them to SchoolTube and share them with classrooms around the world on UClass.
Zak Ringelstein, CEO and Co-Founder of UClass, said, “This project gives students the opportunity to learn about their world through the primary source of their global peers. We want students to represent their communities however they feel is best. It could be a mini documentary about their community or a rap video about where they hang out in their town.”
Andrew Arizpe, CMO and Co-Founder of SchoolTube, said, “We are inspired everyday by the creativity of students and teachers. This initiative gives our respective communities a chance to show their stuff and gain exposure to online tools that enhance their learning experience."
Zak added, “SchoolTube and UClass is as intuitive as YouTube and Facebook. This partnership will increase visibility for both of us and, in the process, elevate students’ exposure to their global classmates.”
SchoolTube and UClass are both moderated K12 social learning platforms that promote project-based learning and sharing. UClass is a 21st century global learning community that develops cross-cultural competencies by connecting classrooms with other classrooms around the world in a fun and educational way. SchoolTube is a video platform that empowers students and teachers through a safe, informative, and fun video sharing experience.
