A cultural culinary experience in St. Charles, Mo. fires up this week when Tucanos Brazilian Grill opened its doors to the public on Feb. 27, bringing the bright authentic styling of a true Brazilian dining experience to the greater St. Louis community. The new restaurant is located at 1520 South 5th Street, St. Charles MO, 63303.
To celebrate its seventh restaurant nationwide and Midwest debut, Tucanos announces an initiative called Make it Rain to benefit four local charities: Autism Speaks, Friends of Kids with Cancer, Operation Food Search and St. Patrick Center. The four selected nonprofits will compete for the most votes, resulting in a chance to receive 60 percent of the proceeds from a special Charity Celebration dinner at Tucanos on April 4. Runners up receive 20 percent for second place and 10 percent for third and fourth.

We understand that we need to support issues important to the region, and we look forward to getting to know these four amazing charities along the way.”
The caveat: online votes at http://www.tucanos.com/makeitrain count as one vote, in-restaurant picks automatically count as two votes, and reservations to the Charity Celebration count as 10 votes. For $25 per ticket, guests attending the Charity Celebration will enjoy live music, a churrasco feast consisting of unlimited portions of beef, poultry, seafood, vegetables, and sweet pineapple, grilled to perfection over open flames, and then sliced tableside. Also included is the Tucanos famous Salad Festival, non-alcoholic Brazilian beverages, and a decadent traditional dessert. Preferred seating can be reserved at 636-724-4499.

Tucanos is an experiential dining destination that combines the unique serving style of the traditional Brazilian grilling, referred to as “churrasco” (shoe-HAS-ko) – an exhibition-style meal surrounded by flames and colors, with the flair and festivity of the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. The cuisine features specially seasoned or marinated meats and vegetables (nearly 20 varieties), grilled and then served hot off the skewers at each table until the guest’s appetite is fully gratified.
One-of-a-kind touches at the restaurant abound, including the color-coded, Tucanos Cue. Placing the Tucanos cue green side up lets the entrée servers know that guests would like the parade of seasoned meats, vegetables and fresh pineapple brought to the table. Expertly trained meat servers then slice sizzling portions off skewers directly onto diners’ plates. Those who wish to pause or who are finished with their entrees simply turn the Tucanos Cue over to the red side. Tucanos also offers an abundant and award-winning Salad Festival, featuring more than 70 items.
It seems St. Charles, Mo. is already gearing up to welcome Tucanos to the market. In a recent Facebook Post, a local Tucanos fan remarked, “I am Brazilian! I can’t wait to eat barbecue! I miss Brazilian barbecue so much!”
