Tom Hickerson joins Clinovo as Senior EDC Manager to lead the Electronic Data Capture (EDC) development team, bringing with him over 10 years of experience in open-source EDC technologies. Tom’s addition to Clinovo is instrumental to further enhance ClinCapture and offer an open-source, state-of-the-art EDC system to sponsors. His efforts will be critical to continue to expand Clinovo’s fast growing EDC business.

In his new role, Tom Hickerson led the latest release of ClinCapture, Clinovo’s advanced open-source Electronic Data Capture (EDC) system. Clinovo leveraged its CRO expertise and listened to the valuable feedback of its key clients to deliver critical enhancements in this release, including Live ReportsTM, one-click access functions, ePRO integration, simpler query management and more. ClinCapture can be tried for free on Clinovo’s website.

“I am very excited to join Clinovo. My team and I are looking at an ambitious roadmap for 2013, including a series of focused releases. We want to put all our efforts in meeting sponsors’ needs by listening to their feedback and requests to keep the system as best of breed”, explains Tom.

Tom’s experience focuses on open-source technologies for EDC systems. In 2003, he was the lead developer on the first open-source EDC system. The project aimed to enable data entry at clinical sites to save time and money processing paper Case Report Forms (CRFs). Tom was instrumental in putting together the architecture of the system. He worked on all aspects of the project development life cycle, from project planning to release.

Prior to joining Clinovo, Tom worked in various roles at Harvard University and was one of the selected students to complete ArsDigita University in 2001, an open-source education project modeled after a Computer Science degree curriculum from MIT.

Electronic Data Capture has been a critical area of growth for Clinovo in the past three years. Thirty studies are currently running on ClinCapture, including pharma, biotech and medical device studies. In the last three years, Clinovo made major investments to deliver an open-source and cutting-edge system to sponsor companies, positioning itself as a leader in the field of open-source EDC. Clinovo recently launched a community of users and developers to discuss and collaborate online to further advance ClinCapture. You are invited to join it at: clinovo.com/community.
