VirtualLogger - the leading provider of cloud-based call recording - has released RecordingMagic for softphones. The new program allows softphones to be recorded without the use of a span session, network tap or dedicated server, which greatly reduces the cost and complexity of IP call recording.

"We want to bring the call management capabilities that large call centers enjoy down to the smallest offices..."

Millions of businesses and individuals record their phone calls today. With the growth of Voice over IP phone services, however, such recording is getting more complicated. Now VirtualLogger LLC, the pioneer in cloud-based call recording, has released its newest recording service, called RecordingMagic Soft, a cloud-based call recording service that works with any softphone client, regardless of call control protocol or the use of encryption.

RecordingMagic is a new recording model developed by VirtualLogger and its partner company MobileAppCorp LLC over the past three years. The basic approach of RecordingMagic is to use small, inexpensive devices to capture the telephone signaling from telephone systems, then forward that signaling to large, centralized call recorders capable of all of the state-of-the-art requirements of the biggest, most sophisticated call centers. The end result is a system that is very inexpensive, easy to install, but delivers features that are comparable to systems that cost ten times as much.

The new softphone capability extends the RecordingMagic model to any softphone running on a Windows PC (XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8). RecordingMagic will work with large PBX systems, such as Avaya and Nortel, but also systems used by VOIP telephone companies, such as Vonage, Skype and RingCentral. A small application is installed on the PC, which captures the audio information and forwards it to the VirtualLogger RecordingMagic operations center.

Because the RecordingMagic application works on the PC, there's no need even for the small devices that are required for other telephone systems. And this, in turn, reduces the initial cost of the RecordingMagic system to almost nothing.

"We want to bring the call quality management capabilities that large call centers enjoy down to the smallest offices, and make it affordable," said Jim Veilleux, president of VirtualLogger. "RecordingMagic lets business owners records all of their phones in all of their offices and listen from anywhere, securely and any time it suits them."
