File extension PACKAGE is a game file type which is designed to be used with a variety of games created by Electronic Arts. Some of the games include the Sims series, Spore and other games which are saved in a compressed file archive format. PACKAGE files contain three dimensional images, audio files, characters, objects, textures, and other elements which can be edited with applications developed by Electronic Arts.

File extension PAK can be a video game package file or it can belong to a transportation simulation game developed by Simutrans. PAK files can contain images, audio files, objects and other game elements which are saved into one file. PAK file elements can also contain properties, terrain, vehicles and other gaming objects which are saved in a plain text format.

File extension PBP is used to update the firmware on a PSP Sony PlayStation Portable Device. PBP files associated with Sony are an image file which can be used to install game demos as well as homebrew games and other applications.

Transport Simulator: Simutrans Transport Simulator is an open source transportation game which allows players to establish a successful transport company. Transport Simulator will open file extension PAK and is available as a free download on the Simutrans website. Transport Simulator is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and the
Linux operating system.

PakBuilder: File extension PAK can be opened using PakBuilder which is a software application that provides a set of tools for building Simutrans PAK files. PakBuilder is available as a free download on the Simutrans website and is designed to be used with the Windows operating system.

QuArk: QuArk is a game editing software application that will open file extension PAK. QuArk stands for Quake Army Knife and is designed for use with the Quake game in addition to a variety of other games.

The application is capable of editing maps and models and creating PAK files. QuArk is available as a free download on the SourceForge website and is compatible with the Windows operating system.
Sprite Explorer: Wrench Software Sprite Explorer is a software application which is used to create and edit game sprites. Game sprites are characters used for playing a variety of different games. Sprite Explorer will open file extension PAK and is available as a free download on the Wrench Software website. Sprite Explorer is designed for use with the Windows operating system.

DePacker: Aegidian DePacker is an open source software application which is designed for opening and editing file extension PAK. DePacker provides a way to drag and drop PAK files into the application and automatically converts them if necessary. DePacker is freeware written in REALBasic and is compatible with Windows, Mac OS X, and the Linux operating system. The DePacker software application can be downloaded at no cost on the Aegidian.org website.

PBP Unpacker: PBP Unpacker is a software application which will unpack and open file extension PBP. PBP Unpacker is available for download on the Dashhacks Network website and is compatible with the Windows operating system.

PSP Homebrew: File extension PBP can be opened using PSP Homebrew which is a software application designed to work with Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew games. PSP Homebrew is designed for use with the Windows operating system and is available for download on the PSP Homebrew website.
