Bellucci Premium Recommends the Use of Olive Oil Over Coconut Oil

Fit Sugar compares the nutritional value of coconut oil versus olive oil. Bellucci Premium affirms the many health benefits and uses for olive oil.

On March 1, Natalie Sexenian, the marketing manager for Bellucci Premium, comments on an article posted by Fit Sugar, which compares the benefits of olive oil and coconut oil.

According to the Fit Sugar article, olive oil is known to be one of the healthiest oils to eat and cook with. However, many people have also been praising coconut oil for its health benefits. Fit Sugar reports that both coconut oil and olive oil have almost identical nutritional value. One tablespoon of each is valued at 120 calories with 14 grams of total fat with the only difference being that coconut oil contains 12 grams of saturated fat, which is a lot more than olive oil.

“One of the reasons why people use olive oil to cook with is because of its low saturated fat and cholesterol content,” Sexenian said. “Olive oil has been known to reduce blood pressure and prevent heart disease. One tablespoon of olive oil has zero cholesterol, making it a very heart healthy choice for cooking. Saturated fat can actually cause high cholesterol, so while coconut oil has no cholesterol, the saturated fat can eventually raise those levels.”

According to Fit Sugar, the American Heart Association said people should limit daily fat intake to 25 to 35 percent of the total calories ingested. Saturated fat levels should be less than seven percent each day.

Sexenian said olive oil can be used for a variety of things, and like the article, she promotes the use of olive oil over coconut oil. “Some people might like the taste of coconut oil better, but olive oil is proven to be more healthy,” she said. “Its monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) are the components responsible for lowering the risk of heart disease. If you’re going to try eating healthier, you should start with olive oil.”

Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, that offers a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. The third type of oil Bellucci offers is the world’s finest Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown only by Italian growers in many different regions of Italy.
