Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation will host its annual Bear Tie Ball at the UIC Forum, March 9, celebrating 20 years as the foundation dedicated to eliminating pediatric cancer and providing hope and support to those who are touched by it. Guests can enjoy dining, dancing and auctions, and will have the opportunity to hear eight year old Theo Yianas, the honorary Bear Hug Ambassador, share his heartwarming story of strength.

The annual Bear Tie Ball is the organization’s largest fundraising event attracting over 800 philanthropic-minded individuals dedicated to making a positive difference for children affected by cancer. This year’s event, “Passion with a Purpose,” will include cocktails, dinner, dancing, auctions, awards ceremonies, and presentations from the Bear Necessities founder as well as the children the organization serves.

“This year’s ball is a chance for us to celebrate all the amazing people and sponsors who have helped us grow over the years, but more importantly to celebrate the thousands of families who we fight for through our research and support programs,” said Kathleen Casey, founder, Bear Necessities. “We invite you to join us as we look back at the impact we’ve made over the last 20 years, and look ahead to the possibilities of the future.”

About the Bear Hugs Program
The Bear Necessities Bear Hugs Program supports cancer patients (ages 0 –19), as well as their immediate families, that face the many challenges that accompany the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric cancer. Our outreach serves both in state and out of state children that are being treated at one of the nine major Chicago area hospitals with pediatric oncology departments. A Bear Hug is a customized experience that brightens the life of a child going through cancer. The Bear Hugs Program also provides immediate family support for financial burden and essential needs.
