Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) March 01, 2013
It’s becoming increasingly more important to consumers that their food doesn’t just taste good, but is made with all-natural ingredients produced by sustainable farming practices. Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales set out to achieve these very goals when he founded the Duchy Originals brand in 1992.
At the upcoming Natural Products Expo West show, Duchy Originals will feature their all-natural shortbread and biscuit line that adheres to the brand’s commitment that each product “Is Good, Does Good, Tastes Good.” Exhibiting alongside Duchy will be Walkers Shortbread, the much loved and family-owned Scottish company that bakes Duchy Originals shortbread and biscuits.
“Expo West showcases the finest natural and healthy products available,” said Steve Dawson, president of Walkers Shortbread, Inc. “We find that many consumers are demanding that companies not just make delicious food, but also adhere to social and environmental principles. And that’s what the Duchy brand is all about.”
Staying true to the Duchy Originals Good Food Charter, which states that every product “Is Good,” “Does Good” and “Tastes Good”, all Duchy shortbread and biscuits are made with the finest natural ingredients using sound animal husbandry and sustainable farming practices. Duchy ingredients include no genetically modified organisms (GMOs), are OU Kosher and suitable for vegetarians. No antibiotics or bovine growth hormones are used to produce the butter used in Duchy recipes. Duchy strives for the smallest environmental footprint possible by using more locally sourced, seasonal ingredients and less packaging and other waste.
Founded by HRH Prince Charles the Prince of Wales in 1992, the Duchy Originals line includes four distinctive varieties of rich shortbread and savory biscuits that are ideal for entertaining, special events or as an everyday treat. The Highland All Butter Shortbread is luxuriously rich, smooth and delicious while the Lemon All Butter Shortbread features zesty Sicilian lemons making it an especially refreshing indulgence. The Stem Ginger All Butter Shortbread is made with Australian Buderim Ginger that provides a unique spicy sweetness, and the Original Oaten Biscuit is both savory and sweet to the taste and is delicious on its own or paired with cheeses and spreads.
The brand supports a number of worthwhile causes in the United States and across the world through The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation. A donation from the sale of each Duchy Originals product is given to the Foundation, which raises more than ₤1 million ($1.6 million) annually. In 2012, the brand contributed £2.8 million ($4.5 million).
