Kars-R-Us Reports Car Donations for Charity Clients Improved in 2012

After several years of decline, 2012 saw more donations at a higher value for a number of charity car programs managed by Kars-R-Us.

The prospects for charities receiving more car donations in 2013 look good.

Michael Irwin, President of Kars-R-Us (a Professional Fundraiser specializing in car donation programs), reports several charity clients saw a significant increase in the number of car and boat donations offered in 2012. Michael, and his partner Lisa Frank, have both been managing car donation programs for over 15 years. In recent years the trend for car donations has been on a decline, but that changed in 2012.

Three of the car donation programs managed by Kars-R-Us (Caring For Our Children Foundation, Operation Lookout National Center for Missing Youth, and Goodwill/Easter Seals of the Rocky) saw the number of car and boat donations they received in 2012 double compared to 2011!

Says Irwin, “Perhaps the increase in donations for these charities is a sign the economy is turning around! The San Francisco AIDS Foundation, another of our clients, saw the average value of their donations increase by 80% over this same time period.”

“The prospects for charities receiving more car donations in 2013 look good! A key factor affecting car donations is the number of new cars sold, and that has been on a steady uptrend over the past couple of years. People prefer to donate their old car or truck rather than accept a couple of hundred dollars for a trade in. And there’s the added benefit the donor can get a tax deduction.”

Lisa Frank, Vice President and Director of Operations, says it’s very important for the process to be fast and easy for the donor. Says Lisa, “We work with local transport companies that contact the donor to make arrangements to pick up the donated vehicle or vessel within 24 hours. We handle the transfer paperwork to insure the donor is released from liability. And we provide the donor with the documents needed to take the maximum tax deduction.”

Kars-R-Us accepts donations on behalf of charities serving all 50 states. Those interested in donating a car or boat can go online to http://www.donation2charity.com, or call 888-333-4459, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Operators are standing by to answer questions.
