The Power Arbor™ development is illustrative of the value provided to emerging entrepreneurs by Clean Energy Alliance members
Golden, CO (PRWEB) March 05, 2013
Clean Energy Alliance, Inc., (CEA) announced that in January, WattLots LLC completed the installation of its groundbreaking Power Arbor™ parking lot system at Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights, NJ. WattLots, a client of CEA member NJIT Enterprise Development Center, has created a solar parking lot system that changes the shape of solar.
The WattLots Solar Power Arbor™ represents a clear and striking break from the traditional parking lot solar installations.
“The product’s unique design answers a number of issues which plague conventional parking lot structures,” said WattLots’s CEO, William Kaufman. “The Power Arbor™ provides a uniquely styled parking lot canopy system that is specifically designed for the northeastern climate.” The Power Arbor™ provides substantial quantities of clean, renewable electrical energy at the source of demand where it is needed and it automatically rotates and follows the sun, increasing energy generation by up to 40% when compared to typical fixed installations.
The system uses mono-crystalline silicon solar cells, which are the most reliable and efficient technology currently available. Unlike typical flat panel systems, the open-air design of the Power Arbor™ does not collect snow, thereby reducing structural costs while providing up to 60 more days of annual power generation, making it perfect for Northeast Corridor lots or regions with regular snowfall. The structures are manufactured and assembled in New Jersey.
“The Power Arbor™ development is illustrative of the value provided to emerging entrepreneurs by Clean Energy Alliance members, in this case the NJIT Enterprise Development Center,” said James F. Groelinger, Executive Director of CEA. “CEA members currently are mentoring hundreds of cleantech entrepreneurs and companies, many of which will become important contributors to our energy and environmental future while creating jobs in America.”
“WATTLOTS is a great example of a company in our incubator that has been able to leverage resources and mentoring support to help accelerate commercialization of their technology and explore new market opportunities,” explained Judith Sheft, associate vice president technology development at NJIT.
WATTLOTS LLC was founded in 2009 by William Kaufman. He has received numerous awards including “Architect of the Year” and “Top 40 Entrepreneurs under the age of 40” and is New Jersey’s first LEED™ accredited architect. The company’s mission is to bring the solar industry “game changing” design innovations seamlessly incorporating the latest solar technology available to meet the growing demands of the industry. WATTLOTS LLC is proud to be an active member of the New Jersey Institute of Technology Enterprise Development Center.
