Canadian rock band Rush is definitely on a roll.
First, much to the delight of faithful (and patient) Rush fans everywhere, members Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart were informed they would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2013.
Next, the group won both the Band of the Year and Album of the Year awards at the Classic Rock Awards in London, UK at the end of 2012.
On top of that, the band recently announced it would extend its celebrated Clockwork Angels Tour into 2013. Tickets went on sale to the general public on January 25, setting off a continuing wave of search traffic for seats here and overseas, said Felina Martinez at online ticket marketplace BuyAnySeat.com.
The Spring portion of this year’s trek opens in Austin, Texas on April 23, 2013. The group then heads on to Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Nashville, Raleigh, Virginia Beach, Baltimore, and Uncasville.
The first North American run wraps in Atlantic City on May 11. The group then jets overseas for dates in England, Scotland, Holland, Germany, Sweden, and Finland.
After returning from their European leg, a second round of North American concerts will begin in June and include stops in Hershey, Wantagh, Saratoga, Chicago, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Calgary, Vancouver, Portland, Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas City, Hamilton, and will finally, a return to Grand Rapids and Halifax for the first time in decades.
“As we saw on last year’s tour, Rush has a huge worldwide following and it’s not unusual to see traffic spikes for the band,” said Martinez. “Because of the new cities, we’re seeing some of the venues starting to fill up quickly, overseas as well. Many of the concerts sell out closer to show time, but we still have a great inventory of tickets available.”
“In fact, we’re proud to be able to offer fans the most complete and continuously updated selection of concert, theatre and sports tickets, with a worry-free guarantee to protect their purchase,” said Martinez.
“To access the huge listing of cheap Rush tickets we now have available, customers can go to BuyAnySeat.com and search for Rush – then select their tickets,” said Martinez.
Formed in August 1968 near Toronto, Ontario, the band released its first self-titled album in 1974. Today, as a group, Rush possesses 24 gold records and 14 platinum (three multi-platinum) records. And, industry sales stats put them third behind The Beatles and The Rolling Stones for the most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band. (Source: wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush)
The band finished the second leg of its successful Time Machine Tour in July 2011. They released their newest studio album, Clockwork Angels in June of 2012 and began a support tour in September.
Entering the charts at #1 in their native Canada and #2 in the U.S., Clockwork Angels has spawned three top five hits at Classic Rock radio with “The Wreckers” going to #3, “Caravan” peaking at #2, and “Headlong Flight” topping the chart at #1. Additionally, a fourth single “BU2B” has also hit the Top 10.
Following an appearance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Los Angeles on April 18, 2013, Rush will kick off their Clockwork Angels tour five days later in Austin, Texas.
