Conservative author reports on the irony of CPAC inviting Mitt Romney to speak:
Tricia Erickson (http://triciaerickson.tumblr.com/) reports:
The American Conservative Union reported that Mitt Romney will address the CPAC, (Conservative Political Action Conference) 2013 conference http://conservative.org/news/acu-announces-governor-mitt-romney-to-address-cpac-2013/. At the bottom of the page states “Founded in 1964, the American Conservative Union (ACU) is the oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization in the nation” and “ACU defines conservatism, grows conservatism, and wins for conservatism” and “We look forward to hearing Governor Romney’s comments on the current state of affairs in America and the world, and his perspective on the future of the conservative movement.”
Based on this mission statement, Ms. Erickson points out the irony of why CPAC would invite this type of liberal candidate to give “his perspective on the future of the conservative movement”.
According to Ms. Erickson's book, "Can Mitt Romney Serve Two Masters?", Mr. Romney fathered government mandated healthcare to America, under which he signed-in-to-law $50.00 co-pay tax funded abortions. Furthermore, the book also says that under Gov. Romney gay marriage was introduced to America and Mr. Romney boosted funding for homosexual education starting in kindergarten. She also explains that he opposed a ban on gay scoutmasters and forced Catholic Charities and foster care services to place children with same-sex couples. She further states that Mr. Romney flip-flopped on protecting the pre-born according to which every way the political gain could be achieved, opposed the Bush Tax Cuts, was voted the #8 RINO by Human Events, passed over Republican lawyers for three quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he faced as governor, supported the passage at the state level of ENDA, supported McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform and McCain-Kennedy comprehensive immigration reform (amnesty) and parts of the McCain-Lieberman carbon cap and trade bill. See more on his record here: http://www.theconservativepundit.net/?p=601.
Ms. Erickson states, “By inviting mentors of the Mitt Romney and John McCain ilk to speak at what is sold to the American People as a conservative event (http://www.theconservativepundit.net/?s=John+McCain&x=8&y=11), younger future conservative leaders will be encouraged to follow the same path. We are in a political battle for our country’s literal soul. If CPAC, and other conservative organizations, continue to serve up left leaning candidates cloaked in conservative Republican clothing to our youthful future leaders, our last bastion of conservative hope will most certainly be lost. That is, if it hasn’t been lost already”.
