Dr. Mark Sullivan of Comfort Dental Centre in Edmonton, AB recently introduced CEREC technology at his clinic to offer patients a simple solution for crown and veneer restoration. CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, is the latest in dental technology that allows dentists to complete crowns and veneers all in one visit, an option that wasn’t previously available to dental patients.

Using 3D computer imaging and laser precision, the CEREC machine creates highly accurate, fitted crowns and veneers from small porcelain blocks in the time of one patient visit. The CEREC machine provides not only more accuracy, but a drastic improvement in efficiency for dental patients as well.

“Our new CEREC technology represents the ultimate in patient convenience,” said Dr. Mark Sullivan of Comfort Dental Centre in Edmonton, AB. “It’s often difficult for patients to take time out of their schedules for multiple dental visits within several days of each other—and that’s what used to be required for crowns and veneers. With CEREC, we complete the entire restoration in one visit.”

Before CEREC technology was introduced, dental patients requiring crowns for oral restorations would have impressions taken of their tooth structure and bite in an initial appointment. A temporary crown would be provided while the impressions were sent to a lab for completion. One to two weeks later, the patient would return to have the permanent crown placed, however, crown misfits were common and would require even more visits.

Patients of Dr. Mark Sullivan in Edmonton, AB can now take advantage of this state of the art technology to receive their porcelain crown and veneers in a fraction of the time. Reviews of Dr. Sullivan’s CEREC-produced crowns and veneers have been outstanding.

Dr. Mark Sullivan has been practicing general dentistry in Alberta since 1982. He works alongside three other junior dentists at his clinic: Dr. Nick Stanley, Dr. Daryn Flanagan, and Dr. Jason Ng. Comfort Dental Centre is a multiple winner of the Blue Cross Quality Provider of the year for Alberta, the only clinic in the area that has received such recognition.
