The Test Cases and Procedures were developed to the standards of Design Assurance Level (DAL) B software. The Test Cases and Procedures were controlled in the customer Configuration Management (CM) system with all traceability for coverage of requirements maintained in the customer Requirements Management (RM) system. This allows immediate access and clear visibility for comprehensive Requirements Coverage Analysis and trace matrices using version controlled data and direct links. This also allows rapid and accurate Regression Change Impact Analysis to streamline identification of the clear subset of fully automated test cases and procedures to analyze for updates due to requirements changes.
The major functional areas that were verified during this phase of the project included Timing, Logic, Built In Test, CAN Bus/Serial communication, and State Machines, executing in a real time operating system. These were all verified as part of a Formal Qualification Test (FQT) event that completed in less than one week using 2-3 engineers for complete coverage of more than 550 High Level requirements. The Pass/Fail results verification reporting was also part of a qualified tool developed by CERTON to streamline results reviews reducing the effort to only valid FAIL conditions that may be reported.
All of this value was made possible as a direct result of CERTON's qualified tools and test environments for fully automated high level requirements based testing.
Timothy Stockton, President and CEO of CERTON, states, "One of the main objectives at CERTON is providing value to our customers by getting their products to market error free and on time for all deliveries, including when their customer demands are extreme.
