In an all too common workflow challenge, Tucson Medical Center fought to streamline an arduous data capture process it had been battling with for a considerable period of time. Important measurement data captured during routine echocardiograms had to be manually entered into the core database of their EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR).
The clinical data collected represents essential information regularly used in clinical analytics for patient outcomes, population studies and data mining. Exam images were already linked to the EHR through the central PACS provided ScImage. ScImage’s PicomEnterprise PACS was also used to database clinical measurements and results and create physicians’ reports.
ScImage helped Tucson Medical Center eliminate the redundant data entry effort by brokering the clinical measurements from echo and vascular exams and delivering the meta-data along with the images to the EPIC EHR.
This new technology has helped Tucson Medical Center virtually eliminate corresponding data entry costs and data entry errors.
