Philips believes the switch to LEDs will reduce the energy needed to light up the Metro and suburban RER stations by more than 50%.
(PRWEB UK) 6 March 2013
It has been reported in Lighting.co.uk that Philips will work alongside the French lighting company in a £9.4million contract to replace 250,000 lighting points in 302 Metro stations and 66 Reseau Express Regional stations with energy- efficient LED lighting. The project, if successful, will mark the world’s first transport network whose stations will be fully fitted with LED lighting.
Philips believes the switch to LEDs will reduce the energy needed to light up the Metro and suburban RER stations by more than 50%.The team at Simple Lighting offer a vast range of LED lighting and were naturally intrigued by the story. A representative from the firm shares their thoughts on the matter.
“We’re excited to see how this project goes. There is potentially a great deal of money to be saved here. One LED light on its own is significantly more energy efficient, but on such a large scale the savings could be significant. We also believe that those using the transport will notice an improvement in the quality of light.
“Those who want to improve the quality of light in their homes whilst also making long term savings should consider switching to LEDs. At Simple Lighting we have a great selection of LED tape lights and strip lights in a choice of colours superior to typical bulbs.”
Simple Lighting co. looks forward to following the progress of this story.
