Valencia, California (PRWEB) March 05, 2013
Precision Dynamics-St. John (PDC-St. John), the global leader in healthcare identification solutions, announced today the release of its new DuraSoft™ Laser Patient ID System, a lightweight, ultra soft laser patient ID system that benefits both patients and caregivers by preventing misidentification caused by human error. DuraSoft™ is an automated bar code solution designed for quick and effortless application to improve workflow efficiencies and allow caregivers more time for patient care. The DuraSoft™ Laser Patient ID System is being launched at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference and exhibition, from March 3 to 7 in New Orleans.
The DuraSoft™ Laser Patient ID System includes a patient ID wristband and labels on a single sheet for fast and convenient printing of patient identification information and bar codes in a laser printer. DuraSoft™ is immediately available in seven different formats for easy drop-in replacement of an existing laser patient ID system, eliminating the need for IT involvement or re-formatting. Its patented, innovative design is moisture-resistant without the need for a laminate overlay and protects important patient information from fading or smearing from water, alcohol, or hand sanitizer. The DuraSoft™ wristband also features an antimicrobial additive that protects the wristband surface against tested non-pathogenic bacteria.
The DuraSoft™ wristband requires no assembly prior to application, unlike ordinary laser patient ID wristbands that feature a stiff, cumbersome laminate overlay that must be carefully folded and applied to the wristband. Caregivers do not have to take extra steps to fold and stick a laminate shield over the wristband, providing practical time-saving convenience during the admissions process.
“We created the DuraSoft™ product line because of the huge demand from caregivers for a softer and easier laser patient ID system,” said D’Albert Benoit, marketing manager for PDC-St. John. “Many hospitals have already switched from a human-readable system to an automated, machine-readable solution. Using a bar code system like DuraSoft™ is increasingly advantageous because hospitals can use it as part of their electronic medication administration record (eMAR) system to meet stage 2 meaningful use requirements established by the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for Electronic Tracking of Medications.”
DuraSoft™ is the only laser wristband that’s compatible with PDC-St. John’s Ident-Alert™ Color Coded Snaps. The brightly-colored 3D alert snaps are made from a flexible material with smooth, rounded corners for patient comfort. Ident-Alert™ Color Coded Snaps feature nationally standardized alert colors and large text to aid caregivers in easily identifying at-risk patients. Ident-Alert™ Color Coded Snaps help improve patient safety and communication among caregivers.
