Morgan & Morgan is pleased to announce that attorneys John W. Dill, Keith Mitnik and Grant Kuvin have recovered a $1,017,000 verdict in a medical malpractice case filed in Seminole County, Florida.*

The court awarded $517,000 in economic damages, $500,000 for mental anguish, and attorneys’ fees.

“We are very pleased the jury gave justice to our client,” said Mr. Dill. “This case was heavily defended with scores of highly paid experts, but ultimately the jury did the right thing.”

In the complaint, the estate of the deceased claimed that the client’s husband was allergic to codeine and was given morphine, a drug in the same chemical class as codeine. The client’s husband died as a result of the administration of the drug, the complaint alleged. According to the plaintiff’s attorneys, the anesthesiologist denied any liability and claimed the client’s husband died of a heart attack, rather than the administration of the painkiller.
