Patsy just celebrated her 80th birthday in 2009, so it’s really incredible as a collector myself to be able to continue to create and capture what has drawn so many to Patsy over the years.

Effanbee Doll Company, owned by the world famous Robert Tonner, is shaking up the doll world with their latest reinvention of a doll classic: Patsy®. Originally sculpted by Bernard Lipfert and released by Effanbee in 1928, Pasty® was born out of the composition doll era, a time when dolls were constructed from composite materials, such as sawdust, glue and other elements. Now currently produced with a brand new face sculpt in hard vinyl, Patsy® and Effanbee Doll Company are taking the doll world by storm.
Patsy® made history as one of the first dolls ever produced with an entire manufactured wardrobe available separately, as well as one of the first to have a whole family of other dolls in the line, including Skippy, Patsyette and Patsy Joan. Historically, Patsy®’s patent was hotly defended as a property by Effanbee®, and what was actually patented was a neck joint that allowed the doll to pose and stand-alone. She portrayed a three year old girl with molded short bobbed red hair with a headband, painted side glancing eyes, pouty mouth, bent right arm, and wore simple classic dresses closed with a safety pin.
“Patsy just celebrated her 80th birthday in 2009, so it’s really incredible as a collector myself to be able to continue to create and capture what has drawn so many to Patsy over the years,” said Robert Tonner, Effanbee CEO and Patsy sculptor. “I think what’s held true for such a long time still holds water. Patsy-lovers adore her, and doll collectors in general love her, and it’s been a great thing for Effanbee.”
Currently produced by the Tonner-owned Effanbee Doll Company, Patsy® stands 10” tall and is now constructed of high quality vinyl and hard plastic, and includes inset acrylic eyes and fine synthetic hair. She is available in a variety of eye and hair colors, and Effanbee also offers adorable outfits and ensembles for a lifetime of play.
The brand new Pasty® sculpt was first revealed last year in 2012 at the Tonner Collector’s Convention. "Christmas Morning Patsy", an adorable blue-eyed darling in a pink and white polka-dotted footie pajama set quickly sold out and reinvigorated child doll collectors and Patsy-lovers interests in a big way. Later, in the fall of 2012, Effanbee released the first Patsy Basic#1 and subsequent outfit collection, which had an overwhelmingly positive response, becoming the inception of Patsy Mania.
