In the face of increasing talk of teacher layoffs happening because of cuts to school budgets brought on by the sequester, EducationCrossing.com has been able to find almost 11,000 teacher jobs across the U.S. The website focuses solely on education jobs, both in the K-12 system as well as higher education sector.
At least one school district in Maryland will probably have to let around 200 teachers and teacher’s aides go because of budget cuts. Schools in the Atlanta metro area could also face cuts. But in the face of all this talk of teachers getting pink slips, there are also job fairs being held to hire more teachers. Houston County in Georgia reportedly got over 700 people showing up to its annual teacher recruitment fair held on March 2.
EducationCrossing.com however has still been able to gather almost 11,000 teacher job openings in both private and public schools across the country. There are 2,345 ESL teacher jobs on the site, 1,218 math teacher jobs and 1,376 English teacher job openings listed on the site as of March 5. There are also 763 teacher assistant job openings that the site has managed to track down.
“EducationCrossing.com is as current as can be,” notes CEO Harrison Barnes, adding, “We use a computer algorithm to pull every employment opportunity available for the education sector onto the site.” It may very well be this algorithm that offers the site a unique advantage at looking into the future of education jobs.
EducationCrossing.com is a niche employment website with numerous job listings for the industry. It’s owned by A. Harrison Barnes and is a part of the Employment Research Institute. It operates out of Pasadena, CA.
