Over the last year CompareHolidayMoney.com has done two extensive Family Travel Survey’s covering the summer and the winter travel habits of UK holidaymakers.
It has revealed that only a third of Travellers are Currency Savvy when it comes to sourcing their foreign cash requirements. On average only 38% of Brits buy their currency online with the rest opting to buy currency from High Street Banks and Airport Exchange Bureau’s.
‘This can often cost families up to 10% more and with the average spend on holiday money being between £500 and £1000 per family, this can soon increase the total holiday cost,' says Peter Rudin-Burgess, Financial Director of UK Compare Network.
Although, three quarters of British tourists are booking holidays online these days it appears that most people will still leave their currency requirements to the last minute. This is especially a concern due to the recent drop in value of the pound.
Comparing currency online is becoming much easier these days with exchanges rates updating on CompareHolidayMoney.com every seven minutes. With a little bit of planning you can get your currency delivered next day by Royal Mail special delivery and you can now even sell back your old currency to some suppliers.
The results of Family Travel Survey’s for the summer and the winter of 2012, are both avaliable online:
