Versa Products, Inc. announces a new program to provide classroom furniture to socio-economically depressed schools.

Supporting the children in our schools by donating new classroom furniture is our way of giving back to the same communities that helped us become successful.

Sometimes, the best gift is not the one that you get; it’s the one you give. For Los Angeles-based furniture manufacturer Versa Products, giving back to the community has become a welcomed part of their business model.

Versa Products is contributing thousands of dollars of free classroom furniture and computer carts to underserved Los Angeles area schools. As a newly-formed program, Versa Gives was developed to benefit schools that don’t have the financial resources to purchase or replace furniture on their own.

The program began after Versa Sales Manager, John-Paul Nelson, took a tour of Banneker Special Education Center. The school’s parking lot and Versa’s manufacturing center are located next to each other on the same street in Los Angeles.

Nelson enjoyed the tour, but couldn’t help but notice the deteriorated condition of much of the classroom furniture. “Saying that the condition of the classroom desks and tables were less than desirable would be an understatement,” Nelson said. “Some tables were being supported by books placed under broken table legs; a lot of the furniture was old or falling apart”. Nelson asked Banneker School Principal, Dr. David Eaton about the condition of the furniture and learned that State budget cuts were preventing the school from purchasing new furniture.

Watching the students trying to learn, work, and participate at the dilapidated tables and desks struck a chord with Nelson. He immediately reached out to Versa’s CEO, Chris Laudadio, who agreed that something needed to be done. “Chris has a big heart, he agreed to donate new classroom furniture to the school and it was his idea to start the Versa Gives program to help other schools in need.”

When Dr. Eaton learned that Versa was donating new classroom furniture to his school, he was extremely grateful. “The new tables greatly improve access to the curriculum and to meaningful participation in classroom instruction for our students with moderate-to-severe disabilities…the beautiful furniture contributes significantly to our school wide vision of developing a highly functional and aesthetically pleasing learning environment.”

Versa Products has pledged to donate new school furniture for several Los Angeles schools this year under the Versa Gives program. It’s something the company takes great pride in doing. “Supporting the children in our schools by donating new classroom furniture is our way of giving back to the same communities that helped us become successful,” CEO Laudadio stated.
