Over half of consumers have broken at least one mobile phone in the past five years, survey reports.

Most people have a story or two about how one of their mobile devices [was broken], but to have broken five or more phones in five years means that these individuals probably spent a lot of money to get their mobile lives back.

A recent Facebook survey conducted by Mobile Rhino (http://www.mobile-rhino.com), the most comprehensive mobile device insurance program available for sale through licensed insurance agents, reveals surprising data on the likelihood that consumers will break a mobile phone at least once within five years.

With over 500 consumers answering the question “How many mobile phones have you damaged in the last 5 years?”, 61.6% of respondents said that they had broken at least one phone in that time period. Out of the 500+ respondents, 45.4% have broken at least two phones in the past five years, revealing that mobile phone accidents are often more than just a one-time occurrence.

While 38.4% of the surveyed consumers reported not breaking any mobile device in the past five years, 16.8% of consumers shared that they had broken five or more mobile devices in a five-year time frame. Excluding those consumers who broke no devices, breaking five or more mobile phones in five years was most common response from the survey’s participants.

“These responses definitely took us by surprise,” said Dwight Stuckey, creator of Mobile Rhino. “Most people have a story or two about how one of their mobile devices shattered on the sidewalk or took a plunge in the pool, but to have broken five or more phones in five years means that these individuals probably spent a lot of money to get their mobile lives back if they weren’t protected. Our goal with Mobile Rhino is to help consumers get their mobile lives back as quickly as possible. If a user files a claim for a device that is broken, lost or stolen, they’ll receive a replacement device of the same make and model back in their hands within 24 hours.”

Mobile Rhino allows users to file up to two claims for iPads and iPhones that have accidental damage, mechanical or electrical malfunctions, or have been lost or stolen. Consumers can purchase Mobile Rhino coverage by downloading the Mobile Rhino app from the iTunes App Store.
