"It's very fitting to partner with this widely popular fitness program for this Zumbathon event that will bring awareness to millions of Zumba enthusiasts and raise funds to bring us closer to our goals in fighting this disease," said Augie Nieto.

"Get movin'" with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Zumba® Fitness co-founder Beto for a special Zumbathon® charity event at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas to benefit MDA’s Augie’s Quest, an aggressive, cure-driven initiative singularly focused on finding treatments and cures for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease).

On Wednesday, March 20 from 7-8:30 p.m., Beto will lead hundreds of Zumba fans in the Mandalay Ballroom for a high-energy Zumbathon featuring the recently launched specialty Zumba Sentao™, which transforms a chair into a sizzling dance partner for a Zumba class that balances, strengthens and stabilizes the core for a total-body workout.

"Beto and I share a philosophy of spreading joy throughout every aspect of life, especially when it comes to health." said Augie Nieto, co-chair of MDA's ALS Division and chairman of Octane Fitness®. "It's very fitting to partner with this widely popular fitness program for this Zumbathon event that will bring awareness to millions of Zumba enthusiasts and raise funds to bring us closer to our goals in fighting this disease."

Registered participants can raise additional funds for Augie's Quest prior to the event and qualify for a chance to meet Beto in person. They also can get a reserved spot in the front row of the Vegas Zumbathon event and win gift cards for Zumba’s popular and colorful apparel line that is bucking fashion trends worldwide.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to MDA's Augie's Quest ALS research initiative, named for philanthropist and fitness industry pioneer Augie Nieto, who has been fighting the disease since 2005.

"People around the globe love Zumba classes because they are liberating, freeing and provide benefits that are both physical and emotional,” said Beto. “And as you will see in Las Vegas, the benefits are also charitable — and there’s no one I am more honored to help out than my friend Augie. Please come celebrate dance with us as we keep groovin’ toward finding a cure for ALS."

Space is limited for this first-ever Zumbathon featuring Zumba Sentao™, and the event is expected to sell out quickly. People living in or visiting Las Vegas who are interested in joining the international-inspired, dance-fitness class can register at zumba.com/aqlasvegas.
