Milwaukie, Oregon (PRWEB) March 07, 2013
The American Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists (AAHP), announced today the celebration of its 90th year anniversary.
Homeopathy in the U.S. has experienced strong growth over the past decade and can be attributed to consumers’ interest in more natural, safe integrative medicines. The most recent estimates put category sales at $800 million (Mintel, 2007). Because of consumers’ interest, homeopathic products are now available in over 30k retail outlets nationally including mainstream stores such as CVS and Wal-Mart. Even well-known U.S. medical doctors have recognized the role that homeopathy can play; on January 28 2013 Dr. Oz, a long-time advocate of holistic medicine, hosted a special show featuring the benefits of homeopathic medicine on CBS stations across America. Due to its safety and efficacy, homeopathic medicine is one of the most widely practiced medical therapies in the world and has been used for more than 200 years.
Founded in 1923 founded by John A. Borneman III and Jack Craig among others, the AAHP is a not-for-profit Trade association that cooperates with government and regulatory agencies to ensure high standards for homeopathic manufacturing, labeling and promotion. The AAHP’s mission also includes education of its members by publishing a monthly newsletter as well as the 90th Anniversary celebrations will kick off at the Natural Products Expo in Anaheim CA at the March 8th membership meeting with a champagne breakfast and guest speakers. Steven Litvak, nationally recognized health advocate, will be a featured speaker. Steven was the third generation owner and manager of Santa Monica Drug a pharmacy specializing in homeopathic medicines. A frequent lecturer for professionals and community groups he has been seen and heard on various health-oriented television and radio programs. Steven will speak about the changes in homeopathy and homeopathic products seen through the lenses of a working pharmacy, homeopathic practitioners, patients and consumers. Alvin Lorman, Legal Counsel to the association for 30 years, will also discuss the association’s impressive history and his role in ensuring the status of homeopathic medicines and manufacturers through the creation of the Compliance Policy Guide for Homeopathic Products and his continued efforts in supporting and protecting the industry and the rights or consumers.
The AAHP thanks several industry veterans for their support of this event, including Nelsons (makers of Rescue Remedy), Washington Homeopathy, and Heel, as well as industry business partner Griffcon.
Founded in 1923, the AAHP is a not-for-profit corporation of the State Commonwealth of Virginia, representing the interests of homeopathic manufacturers, distributors, and individual pharmacists in cooperative efforts with regulatory agencies and other organizations nationally. The AAHP functions as a trade association within the homeopathic pharmaceutical industry to represent the opinions and interests of homeopathic product manufacturers and distributors, the FDA, other regulatory agencies and other trade associations. In addition, the association promotes high standards in manufacturing and distributing, communicates regulatory changes to member companies through a regular newsletter, and promotes professional communications, education, and research within the homeopathic community.
