The international flooring community will be keeping a watchful eye on the upcoming Domotex asia/CHINAFLOOR exhibition, which will take place from 26th – 28th March at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center in China.

Both local and international exhibitors will be pulling out all the stops to impress Chinese investors

Tens of thousands of architects, trade suppliers and designers in China are looking forward to sampling some of the latest innovations to emerge from world-leading flooring manufacturers throughout the three-day event. Domotex Asia is the largest flooring trade show to take place in the entire Asia Pacific region and houses pitches from over a thousand Chinese and international exhibitors. It’s thought that this years’ event will attract in excess of 40,000 visitors, making it a crucial date on the calendar for floor covering industry professionals from across Asia and beyond.

China has grown to become one of the world’s leading economical powers in recent years, so it’s no wonder organisers have decided to stage a show in Shanghai. But there are a number of Domotex trade shows taking place in Europe, Russia and Istanbul in 2013, so will the Chinese exhibition offer anything new to the flooring industry on a global scale?

A representative from UK-based supplier Green Apple Flooring thinks so.

“By hosting this Domotex exhibition in Shanghai, the organisers are reaching out to a crucial part of today’s construction market,” he explains. “Both local and international exhibitors will be pulling out all the stops to impress Chinese investors because the country is currently experiencing the largest demand for new urban construction in the world to date. Demand for innovative, eco-friendly flooring is at an all-time high in the region, so there are plenty of business opportunities for companies that are showcasing new ideas and products. China is also the world’s second-largest luxury market, so high-end floor coverings are sure to be snapped up by its wealthy suppliers.

“In addition, flooring trends vary from region to region depending on the needs of local customers,” he adds. “For example, products that appeal to European suppliers may not go down quite so well in Russia or Asia. Like many other major players in the construction industry, Domotex have clearly identified the importance of organising region-specific shows to benefit different consumer regions.”
