Atlanta, Ga. (PRWEB) March 12, 2013
QTS (Quality Technology Services) today announced that it has been selected by WellStar Health System, a national leader in comprehensive care, as the company’s primary and secondary data center provider. WellStar will take advantage of QTS’ flexible and scalable colocation services at its Atlanta Metro and Suwanee facilities, which collectively offer more than 1.3 million square feet of total data center space.
WellStar selected QTS as its primary and secondary data center provider in part due to the company’s ability to provide two facilities in the metro Atlanta area with enough space to accommodate private colocation suites. QTS’ sprawling Atlanta Metro facility, one of the largest data centers in the world, offers more than 970,000 square feet of total space. Additionally, both data centers have direct fiber access to a wide variety of carriers, providing WellStar with the flexibility to pull SONET services directly into its colocation suite.
“The attention to detail and infrastructure redundancy in QTS’ metro Atlanta facilities were very attractive to WellStar’s cross-functional site evaluation team. The multiple security systems in place provided an appropriate level of comfort that our data will be protected, an essential element for any health care IT location,” said Jon Morris, M.D., senior vice president and chief information officer – WellStar Health System. “Both physical security and HIPAA compliance were of critical importance in our selection of a colocation provider.”
“Our focus on redundancy, flexibility and security continues to draw new clients from the health care sector, and we are confident that QTS is the right choice to handle all of WellStar’s colocation services,” said Brian Johnston, chief technology officer – QTS. “Our emphasis on security and HIPAA-compliant solutions is aligned with the core requirements of WellStar’s data center needs, and our 24x7x365 service team is an asset to any health care IT department. We look forward to a successful partnership with them.”
QTS provides a wide array of services including custom data center, colocation and cloud computing solutions. Other leading health care companies such, as MDdatacor and Resurgens Orthopaedics, also rely on QTS for secure, private data infrastructure solutions.
