ExerciseFriends.com pledges $15,000 to support Mayor Bloomberg's NY Green Gym Initiative.
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) March 11, 2013
ExerciseFriends.com the leading site for people meeting others on the web for diet, health, fitness and exercise applauds the efforts by Mayor Bloomberg to get New Yorkers up and exercising.
ExerciseFriends.com will fund $15,000 in immediate site development for features needed specifically by New Yorkers to help them meet Mayor Bloomberg’s exercise challenge.
Recently Mayor Bloomberg recognized New Yorkers, like all Americans, need to get out and exercise. To that end, the city has launched a web site and is making parks and open areas available for people to exercise in---the city is even recommending people find partners with whom to work out---something ExerciseFriends.com believes is a great idea.
Jay Valentine of ExerciseFriends.com stated: “We already enable people to meet others by zip code, but if New Yorkers need a better way, we will add it. People who exercise together succeed 95% of the time and we want to support the Mayor's Green Gym program any way we can.”
ExerciseFriends.com has a large New York membership and the company wants to make sure it is offering all the flexibility possible for New Yorkers to meet for fun and exercise.
While obesity is a major problem, it is the symptom of a larger issue---lack of exercise. Recent studies have shown it is better to be a bit overweight and get regular exercise than to be thinner and get little or no exercise. Exercise is the regulator for the human body and it is the first step in fighting diseases like heart disease, breast cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and a host of others.
In a study published in March 2013, ExerciseFriends.com noted the scientific evidence showing that people who work out together will succeed 95% f the time. Yet, when working out or dieting alone, people fail over 97% of the time.
The key to health is exercise and the key to exercise is working out with a friend. ExerciseFriends.com founded the concept for people to meet for health, fitness and exercise and will continue to support all efforts by individuals, governments and corporations that end up getting people up and moving.
Patrick McCluskey, ExerciseFriends Founder noted: “You can buy a car, find a spouse, find a house on the Internet. But I could not find someone to work out with. So I founded ExerciseFriends.com. I am very please to support Mayor Bloomberg’s efforts any way possible.”
ExerciseFriends.com, is the first social media community to discover the secret that dieting fails 99% of the time and exercise programs started in January typically fail by May yet when dieting or exercising with a friend----people exceed their goals 95% of the time.
Launched as an Austin, Texas startup ExerciseFriends.com has grown to hundreds of thousands of members applying social media to America’s most dangerous health problem---obesity.
ExerciseFriends.com now teams with leading health, fitness, diet and wellness leaders to change the workout paradigm to working out with a friend. Proceeds go to charity.
