“BritWeek visits Miami” kicked off on March 7, 2013 with a black tie gala and Innovation business awards ceremony presented by UKTI. This is the inaugural year for BritWeek on the east coast and is comprised of a series of British themed events through March 14th. BritWeek, held annually in California since 2007, has grown exponentially each year and originally founded by then Consul General of California and his wife; Bob and Sharon Pierce along with Nigel Lythgoe and UKTI to promote and celebrate British-American collaboration, innovation and creativity.
Moneycorp announced that it would be supporting the UKTI initiative as the Gold Sponsor and has had a large presence in Miami at the events to show full support. Andrew Woolley, Moneycorp Executive Director, said, "Britweek highlights everything that is great about the US and Britain working together. The growth potential in the region is tremendous and we are delighted to be part of this push to make Florida an integral part of the US-UK corridor."
"We are extremely grateful to Moneycorp for their invaluable sponsorship of the inaugural "BritWeek visits Miami", celebrating the key elements that underpin the dynamic UK and Florida $2.6 billion bilateral trading relationship: business, innovation, creativity and the arts. Moneycorp is a natural partner for BritWeek. As a facilitator of forex and international payment transactions for individuals and businesses both sides on the Atlantic, they play a crucial role in removing the practical headaches associated with internationalisation. We look forward to building our relationship with Moneycorp in future years to collectively support the 340 UK companies already operating in Florida, or those companies considering their next move overseas." -- Rebecca Mowat - Head of UKTI (Southeast USA) & "BritWeek visits Miami" Steering Committee.
BritWeek continues through March 14th.
