Demand for accounting grads is at an all-time high, indicating a rebounding economy. Public accounting firms, government entities, and corporations all seek to hire accounting students.

CollegeFrog is launching the Spring 2013 National Meet The Firms Week, a virtual recruiting event that runs March 25 – March 29. The inaugural National Meet the Firms Week in October 2012 connected 200 accounting firms and 2,500 students across the country and offered insightful webinars to accounting students on such topics as the CPA exam and unique accounting career paths. This spring, it is expected that hundreds of additional accounting firms and companies nationwide will participate. The goal is to reach 10,000 students participating this spring.

Demand for accounting grads is at an all-time high. According to the report “Trends in the Supply of Accounting Graduates and the Demand for Public Accounting Recruits,” issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in May 2011, nearly 90 percent of accounting firms forecasted the same or increased hiring of graduates, and nearly 71 percent of the largest firms anticipated more hiring—an indicator of a rebounding economy.

Students are not aware of all the opportunities available to them because only the largest employers visit their campus. Thousands of employers, including public accounting firms, government entities and corporations, are looking for new ways to connect with students.

National Meet The Firms Week allows accounting employers to meet student job seekers online, and it gives students the opportunity to distribute their resumes to hiring firms at no cost to the firms or students.

“Accounting employers want to identify top accounting students in a cost-effective way,” said Jeff Phillips, CEO of CollegeFrog. “National Meet The Firms Week gives employers the opportunity to find students from around the country who are interested in working with their firm.”

Colleges traditionally host Meet The Firm events—career fairs where students can interact with representatives from hiring firms. However, firms that are eager to find the best available talent may not always be able to afford to travel to multiple campuses. National Meet the Firms Week enables firms to have a presence on campuses nationwide.

Students and firms may go to http://www.MeetTheFirmsWeek.com to register. CollegeFrog is joined by partners Accounting Today, The Association for Accounting Administration, Becker Professional Education, Boomer Consulting, The Institute of Internal Auditors, Sage, and ThisWayToCPA. Students receive gifts for registering, such as zero percent financing on Becker’s CPA exam course, and are entered into sweepstakes for other prizes, such as an entry to win a Sony Bloggie Video Cam from ThisWayToCPA.
