According to the Sky News report a witness captured three armed men attempting to rob an armored van on his mobile phone. The gang wearing balaclavas pulled up in front of the van in a large black vehicle. One of the guards was struck on the back of the head during the attack and a warning shot into the air but no money was handed over to the robbers. Police were quick to respond and sealed off the area outside a shopping center.
The report goes on to say that the police believe the attack may have been planned due to the fact that the robbers were wearing balaclavas and were carrying a firearm. It is possible that they will strike again and Leichhardt Police Commander Michael O’Toole said: “Of course we are worried they will strike again. It’s a concern for something like this to happen at that time of the day when there are so many people around.”
Private Detectives Birmingham was particularly interested in this incident as it showed the benefits of a mobile phone. The attempted robbery was filmed by the mobile and it will give the police a great deal of information that human witnesses may have not remembered in the heat of the moment. Mobile phone technology is used in a great deal of spy equipment from remote wireless video cameras to remote wireless listening devices which are used extensively by private detectives.
Spokesperson from Private Detectives Birmingham, Kristy George said:
“In my professional opinion this is a good example of how technology is helping to fight crime. Private Detective Birmingham has a large collection of spy devices that use mobile phone technology with great success.”
