Bohemia, New York (PRWEB) March 13, 2013
On March 13, 2013, Yumi Media, a website devoted to food news, recipes, and products to incorporate into your own healthy lifestyle, offers a response to Washington Post foodie Joe Yonan’s recent conversion from omnivore to vegetarian.
According to Boston NPR, Joe Yonan, Washington Post food editor, gradually converted to vegetarianism over the last few years. The article asks what such a lifestyle change could do to a foodie’s career.
"The meals that we food people get into can sometimes be way over-the-top of the kinds of things that normal people eat," Yonan says.
"It was partly health — probably initially health-driven — and then certainly a sense of environmentalism a bit, too," Yonan says. "But, I really didn't set out to tell other people what they should or shouldn't do." According to Boston NPR, in a poll conducted last year with Truven Health Analytics, 39 percent of adults surveyed said they eat less meat than they did three years ago due to health concerns.
“Health concerns are a major contributing factor to a lifestyle change such as vegetarianism,” comments Justin Maas, Yumi Media spokesperson. When asked about Yonan’s lifestyle change, Maas commented that the move is bold and daring. “Yonan is an inspiring person to model after. To make such a bold career move as a foodie is something truly special.”
“Foods like Quorn serve as the perfect solution to such a particular lifestyle change, since they allow you to gradually reduce your meat intake without committing to a big learning curve related to finding new types of food,” says Maas. Maas adds that Quorn complaints that have emerged since the product’s release are of little concern to people who want to live a healthy lifestyle.
