RFID Journal announced today that it has officially relaunched its website with a new design and a new underlying infrastructure that makes the site far faster and more reliable than the old version.
“We’ve been working on this update for more than a year,” said Mark Roberti, RFID Journal's founder and editor. “We have improved the site's look and feel to make it more modern and easier to navigate—but the upgrade is much more than merely cosmetic.”
The site has been moved to the cloud, which will reduce potential downtime from problems involving a physical server. What's more, the underlying code, created 10 years ago when the company was first created, has been entirely rewritten.
“This will allow us greater flexibility in how we deliver our content,” Roberti stated. “During the coming months, we plan to launch a mobile edition optimized for viewing on smartphones, and down the road, we will be able to create a tablet application.”
The relaunched website offers several new features, including the ability to save articles for future reference, and premium members can choose to automatically renew their subscriptions annually. Additional functionality will be added during the coming months.
“Our goal has always been to provide our readership with the highest-quality editorial and Web experience,” Roberti said. “This relaunch guarantees that we’ll be able to do that for years to come.”
