Uniontown, OH (PRWEB) March 13, 2013
Wayne Homes, a custom home builder based in Ohio, has announced that the company has raised more than $8,000 for local charities through their Random Acts of Kindness campaign.
During the campaign, which ran from November 19th through December 31st, the home builder donated $100 for every home sold. Each customer decided which charity would receive the contribution. Nearly $4,000 was raised during the event. Proceeds were delivered to charities that included the Akron Children’s Hospital, the Humane Society, Feed the Children, and others.
In addition to the Random Acts of Kindness program, employees of the home builder developed creative ways to raise additional funds to help those in need during the holidays. Employee fundraising events included a hot cocoa bar and bake sale, dress down days, and a raffle for a paid day off. Dubbed Share-a-Christmas, the teams raised more than $4,200 for charities that included the Salvation Army, Haven of Rest Homeless Shelter, and Open M, an organization that gives out free food and health care to those in need in the Akron area.
“Our employees, customers, and trade partners are the real heroes. Their hard work, generous spirit, and commitment to the community around them is both exceptional and inspiring. During the Random Acts of Kindness campaign, they continually looked for new and creative ways to help families in need during the holidays,” says George Murphy, President of Wayne Homes.
In addition to the Random Acts of Kindness and Share-a-Christmas campaigns, every Wayne Homes Model Home Center was set up as a collection point for clothing, non-perishable food items, toys and contributions for a charity in each of the local communities. Thousands of dollars in goods were raised from Wayne Homes employees, trade partners, homeowners, and visitors to benefit charities that included Toys for Tots, the Akron Canton Food Bank, Heartbeat of Sandusky, and many others.
“It’s an absolute joy to come to work every day and be surrounded by people who care that much about their work and their community not just during the holidays, but every day of the year,” says Vice President of Marketing Maurie Jones.
